Late Victorian Enamel, Pearl and Diamond Locket c/1880

This sizable oval shaped yellow gold locket exemplifies the elegant fashion of the times, while being very contemporary in its appeal. This particular piece has a mufti-tiered face. The oval main body is overlaid with navy blue enamel and pearls. The second tier is overlaid with an oval gold cartouche which is also overlaid with navy blue enamel, four seed pearls, and single cut diamonds. The entire locket is warmed by a well-earned patina. The accompanying chain is 21 inches long and the locket measures approx 1 ¼ inches wide x 1 ½ inches long not including the bale.
